The Historical Symbolism Pink Roses

Flowers communicate an eternal language. They can express emotions that are difficult to put into words. A flower arrangement sent to a friend in need tells them just how much we care. With the delivery of flowers available almost all of the world you can use flowers to celebrate life’s victories as well as sympathize with the sorrows of life.

Or course, most people view flowers as objects of beauty. Their intoxicating scents can carry you away. But were you aware that flowers are a way to communicate to the sender that which cannot be expressed in words? The art of sending that flowers with hidden meanings goes back to ancient times but it gained real popularity during England’s Victorian period.

In times past there were more rigid rules of decorum. This meant that certain feelings or emotions could not be verbalized or even said in a letter. Conventions were established about the significance given to certain flowers when by themselves or combined with others. Some of these meanings attached to flowers continue until the current time.

Nearly everyone realizes that red roses as an overt expression of true romantic love, but what of other rose color meanings? Pink roses can also signify romance, but are seen as less intense and might be more suitable early in a dating relationship. Also sending pink roses can also be used to express friendship with almost anyone.

Pink roses have been around for quite a long time, and they are a natural hybridization of the red and white roses. Pink roses come in a large multitude of shades from the slightest rosy blush, to almost red deep pink. The more delicate shades of the pink rose are symbolic of innocence, and are especially well suited to children.

Roses of other colors also have particular meanings also. Yellow rose bouquets can indicate a friendship, get well wishes, thoughts of brighter days, or perhaps an apology for an argument. Although originally yellow roses had the negative connotations of infidelity or cheating. This is a far cry from what we think of them today.

Traditionally, you should send pink roses to represent affection and red roses as a symbol of their passion. Regardless of whatever reason you choose for sending flowers, they are sure to be greatly appreciated. A florist will help you to choose a color and can tell you what each different flowers symbolizes to help you get the right message across. They may even have a floral guide available to pop in with your bouquet so that the receiver understands your sentiments correctly.
