One should be very careful in keeping their homes and surroundings clean specially when it comes to the drainage system. It is very essential to have these areas clean and their proper maintenance is equally important. Hygiene is important for a healthy living.

Drain clogging can be difficult to handle at times like it can be very embarrassing if such a situation arise while we are entertaining guests at our place. So some basic drain cleaning tools should be present at homes for emergency situations. One should be aware of the different methods that can be used immediately.

The right kind of tool that should be used for drain cleaning can be decided according to the type of clog and where the clog is. Various chemicals are available for this purpose, but it is always suggested to first try out the natural tools for drain cleaning as chemicals need to be handled with great care.

There can be various reasons for clogging up of the drain pipes. The kitchen sink might clog up due to the food particles, the restroom sinks in all probability may be blocked with hair while the toilets would normally be clogged with a type of paper product. Drain strainer can be used for kitchen sinks. Another common drain cleaning tool for homes is ball type plunger.

Chemicals can be very harmful if not used with care. One should always read the instructions given by the manufacturer before using it. Never mix any chemicals as they work differently and can result in a bad reaction. They can result in rise in temperature and may also cause eruptions which can be very dangerous for the skin.

Any kind of drainage system fittings should be regularly checked for leakages or any other defects so that it can be fixed at an early stage by calling a plumber otherwise things can become unmanageable later on .

If there is a tank system in the home, it should be cleaned regularly. Regular inspection by the plumbers are a must. The tank may need to be pumped out every few years.

Taking care of your drains will prevent costly emergency plumbing complications in the long run.
