In addition, there may be seasons over a period of time where little or no rain occurs in an area. This is when you must jump in and do what Mother Nature is not doing and turn on your sprinklers to water your lawn. The following are some tips that should help you when doing this:

3. You should water your lawn at least once a week and at least two times during a drought.

4. Do not over water. This will also damage your lawn and garden. Most grass requires about 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week to stay healthy. You can either use a rain gauge to keep track of the amount of water you are supplying or you can use a small can the size of a tuna can or cat food can. Once the can fills up, you are done watering for the day.

Once you have done your fertilizing in the spring, go back and re-fertilize again in the summertime. This time use a fertilizer with weed control.

You want to use your aerator during the autumn and spring and only use it when your soil is damp. You should also use it just before planting seeds in your lawn or garden for optimal growth. Using your lawn aerator on a regular basis will help you to create a beautiful lawn, garden and landscape.
